Marat X Marat is a contemporary and digital artist from Sterlitamak whose practice moves between graphic image, installation, augmented reality and objects. Before focusing on his own art practice, he worked as a creative director; the visual languages of advertising, packaging, interfaces and mass-market graphics remain visible throughout the work.
His projects and exhibitions have appeared across Europe, Russia and Kazakhstan. He is also the founder of Yola Ceramics. Selected commercial collaborations include Mercedes-Benz, Swatch, Hasbro and DreamWorks.
A recurring method in the work is to borrow a language that already tells people what to desire, buy, fear or obey, then change the instruction. Product labels become confessions; sale graphics carry philosophical language; surveillance imagery turns from omnipotence to indifference.
THE LANGUAGE ALREADY EXISTS.
The work often begins with a visual language that already has authority: packaging, advertising, retail interfaces, workplace instruction or institutional display. The intervention is not to imitate that language, but to make it carry a different sentence.
