How to Care for Art Prints

Most print damage comes from light, moisture, poor handling or contact with unsuitable materials.

Keep prints away from persistent direct sun

Strong sunlight can change paper and inks over time. If the wall receives direct sun for hours every day, consider a different position or glazing with UV filtering.

Avoid humid locations

Bathrooms and damp exterior walls are poor places for paper. Repeated humidity changes can cause waviness, mould or adhesion to glazing.

Handle the edges

Clean, dry hands are usually enough for normal handling. Hold the print by the edges and avoid rubbing the printed surface. For larger sheets, use two hands so the paper does not crease under its own weight.

Do not spray cleaner onto the frame

If a framed print needs cleaning, apply cleaner to the cloth, not directly to the glazing. Overspray can run behind the frame and reach the paper.

Store flat when possible

If an unframed print will not be displayed immediately, keep it flat in clean archival packaging. Avoid long-term storage in a tight roll unless the paper and packaging are designed for it.
